Award-winning 2024 Summer Reading Program
This year's summer reading program theme was "Adventure Begins at Your Library." I illustrated characters for both of the children's and tween summer reading programs, as well as designed the all-ages sub branding and logo, which we turned into a holographic sticker. We painted the characters I created on both the Downtown Library's and Ellettsville Branch's children's area's windows.
In addition to creating the various marketing materials we used to promote this year's summer reading program, I also designed the template we used for the Children's, tween, and adult game boards. Our print vendor, World Arts Inc., submitted our game boards to the Great Lakes Graphic Association's Graphics Excellence Awards. We won Best in Division under the Booklet or Brochure Category.
*The teen and adult characters were created by my fellow graphic design specialist, Christy Smith.
Iditaread™
The Iditaread™ is a community reading challenge inspired by the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, an annual long-distance sled dog race held in Alaska in early March. This year, our library “raced” in the Iditaread™ in real-time by collectively reading the same amount of books that the Mushers traveled in miles between each checkpoint of the Iditarod, which we kept track using the Beanstack app.
I designed a variety of marketing materials for this reading challenge, ranging from a booklist and social graphics to stickers and a large map that we displayed in the atrium to track our community's progress.
